Diamond FM to continue to impact its audiences positively as the station bags another award

Diamond FM, took the Regional Best Radio Station award at the 25th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) awards event organised over the weekend in Accra.

The award is in recognition of the station’s impactful programming and apt journalistic practices over the years.

At the same function, a broadcast journalist with the Multimedia Group, Samson Lardy Anyenini, won the coveted PAV Ansah Journalist of the Year Award alongside other reporters. Mohamed Fugu, a reporter with the Daily Graphic’s Tamale office picked the Environment award while Albert Futukpor of the GNA in Tamale won an award in COVID-19 reporting.

Speaking at the GJA awards, the United States (US) Ambassador to Ghana, Madam Stephanie S. Sullivan, in a message read for her underscored the need for the US and Ghana to maintain respected, protected and accountable journalist corps ahead of their national elections.

Madam Virginia Elliot, Public Affairs Officer of the Embassy who read the Ambassador’s speech said with the election season already in full swing in the US and Ghana, both nations must be vigilant in maintaining respected, protected and accountable journalists corps.

This is because, free and responsible press enabled citizens to make informed decisions and better hold political leaders accountable, allowing democracy to thrive.

The event was on the theme “COVID-19 and Credible Presidential and Parliamentary Elections: The Media Factor”.

Meanwhile, Diamond FM’s plaque and certificate which were picked on behalf of the station by Mohamed Fugu of the Daily Graphic, has been presented to the station and received by the General Manager, Mohamed Ibn Abdallah.

Diamond 93.7 FM transmits from Nkrumah Valley in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital and is noted for its comprehensive and credible news function, innovation and vibrant audience participation in all its programs.
