Parents/ Guardians must desist from attacking teachers who discipline their children- Tamale College of Education Principal Dr Sulemana Iddrisu

The Principal of the Tamale College of Education, Dr. Sulemana Iddrisu, has called on parents and guardians to desist from attacking teachers who discipline their children for wrongdoing in school.

He said such behaviour did not promote co-operation and effective teamwork between the teachers and the parents in their efforts to produce better future leaders for the country, hence the call.

Dr. Sulemana made the call, when the leadership of the Northern Regional Muslim Council had interaction with the Imam and Muslim Umma of Masjidul-Salaam on Sunday April 9, 2023.

According to him, the continue attacking of teachers who discipline students at school for wrongdoing must be discouraged.

He thus urged parents to avoid such acts, saying such behaviour only put fear in to teachers as well as the child, and this affects teaching and learning.

The Tamale College of Education Principal, also admonish parents and guardians to exercise restraint whenever the children report any issue concerning their teachers to them.

He also advice the parents to always cooperate with the teachers in the proper upbringing of their children.

Despite their efforts towards producing God fearing future leaders for the country, teachers for the past decades continue to face increasingly abusive behaviour from parents and guardians.

Teachers always are been confronted by aggressive parents or guardians, for correcting their children for wrongdoing in schools while some of the teachers have endured physical violence from the students for the same reason.
