Dagbani Movies to stream on mobile app and on internet – Dagbani Cinema

Dagbani movies enthusiasts especially in Ghana and abroad can now enjoy their favorite entertainment on a mobile app and website that stream their choicest movies and crafts from season actors in the north.

This follows the launch of the “Dagbani Cinema,” a project between the Northern Drama and Film makers association and Film Producers association that would see their creativities namely; action, drama, love and comedy all in Dagbani language, available on a streaming platform thereby protecting the copyrights of producers alongside creating an alternative revenue generation avenue for the industry.

At a launch over the weekend, CEO of Dagbani Cinema, Dr. Maliha Abubakar said the “Dagbani Cinema” which is a tech solution, is aimed at expanding access to Dagbani movies for enthusiast home and abroad since many viewers now prefer to watch movies online compared to the owning compact discs “CDs.”  She explained that the innovation would help deal with the challenges movie actors and producers were faced with regarding “CDs” which aren’t selling in the markets lately.

Dr. Maliha also hoped that in the near future, Dagbani Cinema will have a strong viewership base that would compete with the likes of Netflix and other big streaming platforms.

President of the Northern Drama and Film Makers Association of Ghana (NORDAFIM), Abdulai Abdul Jelil, welcomed the move saying the mobile app and the website would help to deal with the issue of unscrupulous persons uploading Dagbani creativities online without permission and making monies while putting the real actors at a disadvantage.
