Brong Ahafo Regional Minister appointed caretaker minister of Bono East Region

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has named Brong Ahafo Regional
Minister, Mr Evans Opoku-Bobie as interim minister for the newly-created
Bono East Region until a substantive minister is appointed.
Mr Akufo-Addo made the revelation at the ceremony to present the
Constitutional Instrument (C.I.) 113 for the creation of the Bono East
Region at the Jubilee House in Accra on Wednesday, 13 February 2019.
Mr Akufo-Addo also chose Techiman as the capital of the new region
despite protests by a section of chiefs and people from the region.
Mr Akufo-Addo however assured the people that development of Bono East Region will spread across all the towns and villages.
President of the now Bono East Regional House of Chiefs speaking at the
ceremony said “the competition for the capital cannot and will not
divide us”.
The creation of the Bono East Region, together with five others, was a
campaign promise of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2016
elections.
After the NPP won the polls, a Commission of Inquiry, headed by a
retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Stephen Brobbey, was
instituted to ensure the creation of the regions.
Accordingly, Oti, Bono East, Western North, Ahafo, Savannah, North East regions were created.
