“Your selfless efforts in supporting and bringing reconciliation and peace to Dagbon will forever be etched in our hearts” – Yaa-Naa to Akufo-Addo
The King of Dagbon, Yaa-Naa Abukari II, says the outstanding leadership qualities exhibited by President Nana Akufo-Addo has brought peace to Dagbon.
Receiving the delegation at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi, on Tuesday October 15, 2024, at the beginning of the President’s Thank You Tour of the region, the Lion King of Dagbon, stated the selfless efforts by President Nana Akufo Addo in supporting and bringing reconciliation and peace to Dagbon will forever remain in the hearts of the people of the area.
The King stated that, “Your decisive leadership in ending the protracted mediation process between Abudu and Andani families by the esteemed committee of eminent Kings, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, His Majesty the Nayiri and His Majesty the Yagbonwura, after the unfortunate demise of my predecessor Yaa Naa Yakubu II, was a masterstroke that paved the way for the performance of the funerals of our two deceased Yaa Naa’s”.
He further indicated that, “you didn’t stop at that. Your continued support ensured my installation as the new Yaa Naa, and your sustained guidance has maintained peace in our beloved Dagbon. We cannot thank you enough and pray that the good Lord will bless you appropriately”.
The Overlord of Dagbon in his remarks also expressed profound gratitude to the President for entrusting several ministerial positions to the people of Northern Ghana.
“I am particularly thankful for the trust you have placed in my children and grandchildren by appointing them to various leadership positions within your administration. The historic appointment of the first Finance Minister from the North is particularly significant, demonstrating your commitment to inclusive leadership. I appreciate your recognition of their capabilities and potential,” he stated.
On his part, President Akufo-Addo while thanking the Yaa-Naa for the warmth of his reception, also commended the King of Dagbon for his work in promoting reconciliation in Dagbon since his enstoolment.
“What has happened here in Dagbon is the greatest example to all traditional institutions of our country that people when they work together can get positive results, ” he stated.
He expressed his appreciation for the support given him and the New Patriotic Party during the last general elections.
President Nana Addo in his remarks also asked the Chief and people of Dagbon to support Dr Mahamadu Bawumia come December 7th 2024.
He said Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is a competent, knowledgeable, and honest man, who can continue the work he initiated across the country.
“I believe that he is the person that can continue the work I had begun across the country; eight years he has been a Vice President. He is being well prepared now to be president, with the support of your grandchildren Mohammed Amin Anta he will be a great President, ” he stated.
The President as part of his visit in the region, also engaged stakeholders and party people to highlight some of his achievements and the need to retain NPP in government.
