Ya-Naa Calls for decent campaigns ahead of December 7 elections

The Overlord of Dagbon Ndan Ya-Na has said “Dagbon has had its past experiences so long as party rivalries and politicking are concerned” and has therefore called on political parties to engage in decent political campaigns ahead of the December general elections.

“My humble and persuasive call for peace is in recognition of the tumultuous period of our electioneering campaigns and the palpable tension that it arouses”.

The Ya-Na urged political parties to also “demonstrate restraint, tolerance for dissenting opinions and patience, for God loves those who are patient and put their trust and confidence in Him”

He said it was his expectation that, all Chiefs, sub-chiefs, women and youth groups and their leaders will champion the call for peace before, during and after the elections in Dagbon and the nation at large.

In an address to welcome the Executive Chairman of the Jospong group of companies to the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi, the Ya-Na also called on the media to play a dual role of promoting peace while playing the key watchdog role as stated by the GJA code of ethics.

Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman for the Jospong group of companies Dr. Joseph S. Agyapong has pledged the support of the company to all sanitation activities of the Ya-Na in a bid to ensure a clean environment.

He also promised to use his influence to woo more investors from China, India and Dubai into the region to ensure the development of Dagbon.

He used the occasion to also donate 100 dustbins, 50 bags of rice and an undisclosed amount of money to the Gbewaa Palace.
