Withdrawal From Ayawaso West Wuogon By-election Was Unnecessary – Alabi

National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer hopeful, Prof. Joshua Alabi has said the withdrawal of his party from the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election was inappropriate, in a haste and uncalled for.

“I believe the executives of the party who met to conclude at a decision on behalf of the party to pull out of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election rushed in their proceedings,” he lamented on UTV’s Friday edition of ‘Adekye Nsroma’ political show.

He explained that the party pulling out of the contest was not the best because such unfortunate incidences are normally expected on election grounds,

“Does it mean that we will as well pull out of the national Presidential elections should we see such violence?” he asked.

Prof. Joshua Alabi said he would have allowed the elections to go on even after the disturbance at one of the polling stations out of the 137 polling stations, than taking a swift decision to pull out of the contest.

“I would have wished that we wait patiently till the end of the by-election before taking a final decision on what to do next,” he said on UTV.
