Vice President “cuts ribbon” for an ultra-modern hospital for Tolon, but wants maintenance culture to be taken seriously

The Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has commissioned a 60 bed ultra-modern hospital for the Tolon District.  The hospital is one of the six medical facilities begun by the NPP government three (3) years ago.

The Tolon hospital has departments including, Outpatient and Emergency Department, Inpatient Wards for male, female and pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology (Maternity and Child Health), Surgery including an Intensive Care Unit, Physiotherapy, and Pharmacy, Diagnostic Services including X-ray, Laboratory, and ultrasound, and a Mortuary.

Addressing the chiefs and people at the commissioning as part of his campaign tour of the Northern Region, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia stated that the NPP government over the last three years has been able to put up 844 health facilities out of which 478 have been completed.

He mentioned an 80 Bed Hospital at Somanya in the Eastern Region; 80 Bed District Hospital at Buipe in the Savannah Region; 60 Bed Hospital at Wheta in the Volta Region; 60 Bed Hospital at Sawla in the Savannah Region and a 30 Bed Polyclinic at Bamboi in the Savannah Region.

The Vice President said the NPP led Nana Addo government inherited 30 on going infrastructure projects from the last administration and has since completed 16 projects include 10 polyclinics, 2 District Hospitals with 9 District hospital still on going  

He also revealed that government under agenda 111, has plans to established hospitals in Districts currently without District Hospitals adding that 27 of these would be coming to the five Regions of the North to provide health care to the people.  

Dr Bawumia speaking however directed the Ghana Health Service to liaise with the contractor’s maintenance team to effectively maintain the facility. 

The Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, said the commissioning of the facility will go a long way to impact the lives the people of Tolon. He called on the residents to renew the mandate of NPP to enable them continue their developmental projects.

The vice president also commissioned a one story 6 unit classroom block at Savelugu Senior High School to ease the pressure among the students. At Kumbungu, a mini rally was also organized where the Vice President called on electorates in the area to renew the mandate of the NPP come December 7.
