USAID’s Feed the Future Initiative Launches Workshop to Harness Radio’s Power for Behavior Change

Ghana’s next generation of leaders gathered for a dynamic workshop on harnessing radio’s power for social change.

The innovative program seeks to amplify youth voices and promote sustainable food security practices through radio.”

Organized by USAID Feed the Future, the workshop held in Tamale, brought together youth advocates to explore the transformative potential of radio in shaping public opinion and driving social change.

Renowned media personality Abdul Hayi Mommen shared insights on radio’s influence, while Madam Zenabu Abdulai, Resilience and Social Inclusion Director at MSR, emphasized active participation.

Among others, the initiative aims to cultivate a cadre of youth advocates equipped to drive sustainable change.”

The initiative also seeks to equip youth advocates with the skills to effectively utilize radio for promoting positive behaviors and addressing food security challenges.”

Participants explored radio’s role in shaping public opinion and promoting positive behaviors.

Abdul Hayi Mommen discussed radio formats for behavior change, including public announcements, music production and talk shows.

Mr. Moomen took participants through how radio influence human thinking, stressing “radio is the most powerful medium to promote behavior change.”

For her part, Madam Zenabu Abdulai said MSR Activity had engaged the young advocate on several platform, but the agenda this time was to formalize their engagement by exposing them to entrepreneurship training and to also launch the Youth Advocstes in Climate Change and Mitigation.

The MSR Activity,organisers of the workshop, is part of the USAID Feed the Future Initiative under the U.S government’s global hunger and food security initiative.
