UDS pummeled South Sudan 7-0 to set up a final with host Egypt in the Africa Universities Olympic Games

University for Development Studies (UDS) have booked their ticket to the finals of the Africa Universities Olympic Games in Cairo after pummeling South Sudan by 7-0 at the semifinals stage on Sunday.

Abubakari Mohammed (Chief) hatrick Alhassan Abdul Wadud’s brace, Fuseini Mustapha and Firdaus goals were enough for the only Ghanaian University in the football competition to secure their qualification to the grand finale.

The Director of Sports for UDS who doubles as coach of the side Ibrahim Tanko’s men started the competition on a high after they defeated Nigeria 4-1 in their first match.

In their second game, UDS defeated Comoros 3-0 and came up against Senegal and won 2-1 to qualify to the semi final stage of the competition.

In the semi-final, UDS mauled South Sudan by 7-0 to set up a final with host Egypt who had also managed their way into the final.

UDS will make Ghana proud again for the fourth consecutive time in less than seven(7) months if they beat Egypt in the finals on Monday.

They won gold in men’s football at the West Africa Inter-Untiversity Games in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, Federation Of African University Sports (FASU) Games in Makelle, Ethiopia and the GUSA Games in Cape Coast Ghana.
