Tolon: District Hospital Performs First Successful C/S and Delivered twins

Medical staff and nurses at the newly Tolon District Hospital has performed its first Caesarean Section and delivered twins, a boy and a girl on Wednesday 19th January, 2022.

The Medical Superintendent at the Tolon District Hospital, Dr Osman Abdulai, who led a team of doctors to perform the surgery in an exclusive interview with Diamondfmonline.com, describe the exercise as great and successful.

“Yesterday was a great day for us in the Tolon District Hospital, and for that matter the entire Tolon District. We received a 26 year old pregnant woman who came in with labour, but the labour wasn’t progressing, and so there was indication for us to do Caesarean Session. So, we prepared her adequately and send her to the theater. We did the Caesarean session, and that happened to be our first surgery ever in the hospital. We successfully conduct Caesarean section and we delivered twins. The first was a male who came out looking healthy, and the second was a female” , he narrated.

Dr Osman Abdulai while narrating the surgery process also indicated that, the mother and the babies are doing well, and “as we speak everybody is excited”, he added.

He said services within the Hospital has been increasing since its operationalization on January 4.

He added that, Out Patient Department (OPD) in the hospital recorded 400 patients, while over 80 patients are currently admitted for treatment.

Dr Osman also mentioned that, the two weeks old
Tolon District Hospital since operationalization on 4 January 2022, has done 27 deliveries of babies.

The Tolon District Hospital despite its commissioning in 23rd November 2020, its operationalization delayed for more than a year.

The facility was opened on January 4, 2022 to provide first medical services to residents of the Tolon District and other adjoining districts including the Kumbungu District and the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
