The North would get a fair share in centres of excellence in health care delivery, says President Mahama
President John Mahama, has inspected ongoing works on a new cardiology centre at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).
The inspection of the project, formed part of his Resetting Ghana Tour of the Northern Region which lasted for two days.

The government of Ghana is funding the project under the Ghana Medical Trust Fund also known as Mahama Cares.
President Mahama who expressed satisfaction with the level of progress on site, said the project is aimed at strengthening specialised healthcare delivery, particularly in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions, while reducing the burden on patients who often travel long distances to access advanced cardiac care.
The centre upon completion, would be the first of its kind in northern Ghana and will ease travels to the Konfo Anokye and Korle-Bu Teaching Hospitsls by patients from the north.

The President reiterated government’s commitment to investing in modern health infrastructure including constructing a centre of excellence – an Oncology centre for cancer treatment in the north at the TTH.
“We shall equip the centre with the latest medical equipment especially as we are seeing a rise in cancer cases in the country”, he stated.
Mr Mahama said all these efforts are meant to improve access to quality health care and enhance outcomes across the country.

The president and his entourage also toured the 3rd ringway project site under construction, that will connect some of Tamale roads and make them motorable by reducing traffic and stress.
He said 50 billion cedis is being spent from local sources for the road sector alone under the Big Push agenda, adding that the entire regions of the north will also get their share.
