TaTU holds seventh congregation, 2, 113 students graduate with various degrees

Tamale Technical University (TaTU) has held its seventh (7) congregation with 2,113 students graduating from various level of programmes.
Out of the number, 111 graduating with Masters Degrees, 471 first degrees, 162 Bachelors CBT, 403 Diploma, 81 Diploma CBT and 460 Certificate programme respectively.
The first degrees from the respective field were provided with certificates and cash as part of their effort in academics.

Speaking at the ceremony Vice chancellor of TaTU Prof Bashiru Ibn Moro Saeed said the university over the years has being offering graduate employable skills in fostering job creation programmes to meet the industry demand.
The University offers 40 Bachelor degrees, 18 Master degrees, 21 High National Diploma (HND),15 Diploma of Technology, eight Professional Diploma, and 26 Certificate programmes respectively.
According to him, the University has received accreditation for eleven programmes to be enrolled out in the next academic year.
Touching on the infrastructure, he noted that the University has been utilizing its Internal Generated Funds (IGF) to improve on infrastructure to enable a serene environment for academic work.
In collaboration with Access Bank, the University is developing a multipurpose lecture hall blocks effective teaching and Learning, he added.
He stressed that the University is also collaborating with international institutions for exchange programmes.
The university he noted is collaborating with the British Council to enhance the University’s agriculture and skills development programmes.
TaTU seeks to strengthen its academic offerings, improve students’ employability and foster international partnerships to contribute to the University’s goal of becoming a leader in vocational education and agricultural development, added.
He reiterated the commitment of the University in enhancing the skills and capacity of staff to deliver quality education to the students for a better future.
Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Shaibu Alhassan Shaibu represented by the Municipal Chief Executive Mr. Mohammed Yakubu Ahmed commended the University for producing quality students for the job market and also developing entrepreneurship programmes that encourage the youth establish self-jobs.
He noted that the government has also been making effort by allocating some resources to enhance quality education for the development of the country.
He advised the graduates to endeavor to utilize the knowledge acquires to create job opportunities.
Governing Council of TaTU Dr. Alhassan Emil Abdulai said, the University is committed shaping the minds and prospects of young people thereby equipping them with the skills, knowledge and innovative competence required to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
He said the new VC was appointed by a unanimous decision of the governing council based on his potential and skills to help uplift the status of the University to the higher level.
Prof Bashiru has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the advancement of technical education with various leadership positions, he said.
He encouraged the graduates to embrace innovations and technology to meet with the current industry demands.
The University would continue to remain a frontrunner in technical and vocational education, applied research and social transformation, he said.
