TAMASCO organizes medical screening for communities in its catchments as it marks 70 years of establishment.

The Tamale Senior High School (TAMASCO) in the Northern Region, as part of activities to celebrate its 70th anniversary, over the weekend, undertook a medical outreach that targeted residents in three communities within the Sagnarigu Municipality.

The communities were those around Sagnarigu chief’s palace, Choggu chief’s palace, and on the School premises at the Dr Abdullai sick bay where the beneficiaries were screened for various ailments.

Some of the drugs that were given after the screening.

Hundreds of people, including, adults and the aged, went through various screening exercises including blood pressure, hepatitis B, diabetes, hypertension, Malaria, Eye screening and other health challenges.

A team of health personnel from the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) led by Dr Abass together with staff of TAMASCO screened the residents and gave advice on healthy living.

Beneficiaries who were diagnosed with minor health problems were provided with medication, while those with complicated health problems were given referrals to the hospital for treatment.

An assistant headmaster of TAMASCO ( in-charge of domestic), Yakubu Abubakari in an interview with Diamond News said management organized the medical outreach to demonstrate to the communities what the School had produce over 70 years in the Northern Region.

He outlined series of activities that would be undertaken to mark the 70th anniversary of the school.

These include tree planting, float, fun games, debates and symposium among others. “We are doing this because we want the name TAMASCO to be in the minds of people before December 2021 when we climax the event,” he stated.

Some of the beneficiaries speaking to Diamond News after going through the health screening expressed their gratitude to TAMASCO and partners for extending the medical outreach to their localities since majority of them were not aware of their health statuses.  

 Tamale Senior High School (TAMASCO), established in 1951, is described as “The pride of the North,” and has churned out many influential people in the country. The school boasts of impeccable records in academics and extracurricular activities.
