Tamale Technical University still cries to Government for a Governing Council

Dean of the School of business, Tamale Technical University, Dr. Abubakari Abdul-Razak has made a passionate appeal to government to consider inaugurating the governing council of the Tamale Technical University to ensure effective management of the institution.

He lamented that both academic and administrative activities have come to a standstill since the institution has no governing council to approve projects and other challenges that have bedevil the institution.

Speaking on the Diamond power drive, Dr. Abdul-Razak revealed that a policy document that was drafted over a decade ago was awaiting rectification and implementation, in line with the institution’s transition process into a technical university.

He bemoaned that the inability of the university the graduate it students, was due to the lack of the university governing council.

Local Chairman of the Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana, Virgil N. Abedana on the same programme also disagreed with the report of the National Council for Technical Education NCTE that allegedly found some lecturers not fit to teach in the Technical University.

He said the report was not a true reflection of the qualification of lecturers within the University, since many of the teaching staff had the requisite qualification at the time of their appointment.
