TAMALE INTERCHANGE AND PHASE TWO OF AIRPORT EXPANSION ARE AMONG INFRASTRUCTURAL PROJECTS CAPTURED IN GOVERNMENT’S 2019 BUDGET.

The Tamale interchange project, Nalerigu-Bunkpurugu, Tamale-Salaga-Bimbilla, Yendi- Tatale, Karaga-Gushegu and the Wulugu-Kpasenpke-Wa roads are some major infrastructural projects expected to be commenced in the Northern region in 2019.

According to the finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta, government recognizes infrastructural development as the backbone of economic development and growth as well as sources of jobs and wealth for majority of the people, hence would invest in these infrastructural developments.

Delivering the 2019 budget statement in Parliament, Ken Offori Atta indicated that, government is committed to embarking on an integrated infrastructural development program across the country that will move goods, food items and people from one place to the other thereby positioning Ghana as a transportation hub in the sub-region.

The finance Minister also indicated that, the rural electrification program will continue in 2019 using electrical conductors and cables only from local manufacturing companies in other to support and boost employment.

He said, government is committed to extending electricity to the whole country and is committed to working with local banks and entrepreneurs ready to invest in the energy sector.

Touching on water supply, Ken Ofori Atta mentioned the Tamale water expansion, Yendi and Damongo water projects which would begin in 2019. Also he said phase two of the Tamale airport will be undertaken to meeting the status of an international airport.
