Tamale: Changli disturbances key suspect granted bail

The Tamale magistrate court 2 has granted bail to the suspected woman whose arrest spark disturbances at Changli on Thursday 15th April 2020.

The court presided over by His Lorship Yussif Amadu, granted the 38 year old embattled female suspect bail to a surety of GHS3, 000. 

The accused Sahadatu Mohammed Iddrisu appeared before Tamale magistrate court 2 on Tuesday 21st April 2020

The case has been adjourned to 5th May 2020.  

The accused persons were charged with two counts of assault of a public officer and resisting arrest. 

According to the Northern Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Kwabena Otuo Acheampong, the suspect allegedly instigated an attack on three police officers at Changli last Thursday, April 16, 2020, when the officers went into the community to arrest her.

It would be recalled that the northern regional command on Saturday dawn raided Changli, and arrested at least 134 people in connection with the attack of a police woman who had gone to the area to arrest a lady suspected to be engaged in a theft case.

Several community members in Changli also sustained various degrees of injuries as a result of the brutalities.

The police also allegedly destroyed several properties in the area

The Northern Region Reporter of TV Africa Baba Kamil also sustained injury as a result of the gunshots allegedly fired from the direction of the police personnel.
