Tamale Central MP Mutala, supports BECE candidates

The Member of Parliament for Tamale Central constituency, Ibrahim Mohammed Mutala, has presented mathematical sets to all 1,200 BECE candidates who took part in the extra classes he organized for the students within the Constituency.

The MP also gave an undisclosed amount of cash to each student and it was meant to aid the student’s transportation and lunch during their one-week examination period.

According to the MP, “this is part of the activities I had initiated to improve the performance of BECE candidates within the Tamale central constituency”.

It would be recalled that, the MP, some five months ago begun a free extra classes policy for all BECE candidates preparing for this year’s BECE within his jurisdiction.

Addressing the candidates at a short ceremony to disburse the items, the Tamale central legislator indicated that the gesture was in fulfillment of his campaign promise, -by investing more in education to enable the constituency produce quality future leaders in the area.

“I have a moral duty and responsibility to fulfill the promise I made to the people of Tamale central to invest more in education such that we can produce people who are several folds better than me”.

He said the presentation symbolized a bond between himself and the candidates to perform well in their exams to justify the investment made. “The students need to be supported and motivated to boost their confident to come out with flying colors,” he added.

The former deputy trade and industry minister explained that, “if you compare Tamale Metro and other Districts within the Norther Region, the results are very bad, and this is supposed to be the capital of the Region, so we decided to organize extra classes for the BECE candidates within the Metropolis to improve their performance”.

Mohammed Mutala also indicated that, his outfit is liaising with other stakeholders in the constituency to form reading clubs among the students after the exams to enable them take their studies seriously and promised to provide reading books for the reading clubs.

“We will begin implementing a mobile library for the students in this constituency, this is the promise I made during the 2020 campaign period and I will do that, he added.

The Tamale Metro Director of Education, Amatus D Tug-uu, who distributed the items with the MP commended him for the gesture saying, the intervention by the MP will go a long way to enhance the performance of the students.

Some of the beneficiary candidates speaking to Diamond News after receiving the items thanked the MP for coming to their aid, “we thank the MP for organizing the extra classes and also supporting us with mathematical sets for our exams, because of the extra classes we were able to cover all the topics, and so we thank him for this gesture”.
