Tamale Central Mosque leadership thanks Veep Dr Bawumia for renovating Mosque

The leadership of the Tamale Central Mosque led by the Northern Regional Chief Imam Sheikh Abdul Salam Ahmed, has expressed gratitude to the Vice President Dr. Mahamud Bawumia for his efforts towards ensuring the renovation of the mosque.

According to Sheikh Abdul Salam, the leadership of the mosque is grateful to the Vice President for his attention and commitment towards ensuring the second and the third floors of the mosque gets renovated.

The Northern Regional Imam made these praises, when Vice President Dr. Mahamud Bawumia officially handed over a refurbished prayer facility to the leadership on Friday January 6, 2023.

“We are overwhelmed for this gesture and we thank him. May God bless him and may He reward him all his desires”, he prays.

It would be recalled that, in May 2020, the Northern Regional Chief Imam and other elders of the mosque appealed to the Vice President to help pay for the cost of the work done by a Kumasi based contractor on the ground floor.

The Vice President after a Jummu’ah (Friday) prayer in November 2020 at the Mosque paid the cost and announced his decision to complete the remainder of the works on the over 50 years old mosque.

Dr Bawumia in his address, thanked the Almighty Allah for giving him strength to undertake such work.

He also commended the leadership of the mosque for ensuring the completion of the work.

“The renovation of the mosque is the work of Allah, and so we have to give thanks to him for guiding us through to complete the work. We can’t take the praises, rather we should give thanks to the Almighty because it was Him who guide and direct us to accomplish the work”, he said.

He thus, urge the Imams and the leadership of the mosque to continue praying for him and his boss to enable them continue their good works for the people of the country.

Meanwhile, before the official handing over, a Qur’anic recitation was held at the forecourt of the mosque to seek Allah’s blessing.

The handing over ceremony attracted a wide array of people from Islamic faith. A retinue of high-profile personalities, led by Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Deputy Minister of Energy Dr. Amin Anta, the Deputy Minister of Transport Lawyer Hassan Tampuli, the Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Shani Shaibu Alhassan among other dignitaries respectively, joined hands to handover the refurbished mosque.
