The Tamale-based Neesim FM presenter Alhassan Suale, and one other who were gruesomely killed by armed robbers at Kalariga a suburb of Tamale Metropolis in the Northern Region have been laid to rest according to Islamic customs. The two were attacked and killed at a mobile money vending station in Kalariga at about 7:00pm.
The bodies were released to the families for burial after autopsies were conducted on them at the Tamale Teaching Hospital on Wednesday.
Janaaza or ritual prayers according to Islamic practices were observed for them before the burial ceremony at the Vitting Cemetery of the Tamale Metropolis.
Hundreds of residents in the Tamale Metropolis trooped to the cemetery to pay their last respect to the deceased.
Alhassan Suale and one other victim who is yet to be identified, were killed during an armed robbery attack on Tuesday night at Kalariga.
The Northern Regional Police in a statement indicated that, two others including one of the alleged robbers and one other victim sustained gunshot wounds and are receiving medical attention.
The Police however assured that they are working around the clock to bring the perpetrators to book.
In less than a week there have been two armed robbery attacks on mobile money vendors in Tamale specifically in Kalariga and around the Afa Ajura’s mosque within the Tamale Metropolis.
Residents within the Tamale Metropolis have since expressed worry over the persistent robberies, snatching of cars, and other criminal activities in the metropolis and have called on the city authorities most especially the Mayor of Tamale, the regional minister and the security agencies to act swiftly to curb the situation.
