Tamale Assembly members and NPP leadership blame Musah Superior for not engaging them enough

Some Assembly members in the Tamale metropolis have expressed concerns over the decision of the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, Iddrisu Musah Superior to put on hold, some of his initiatives that would lead to the restoration of sanity within the metropolis.

The MCE at the Assembly’s second ordinary session in Tamale, had announced the suspension of an exercise that was meant to restore discipline and sanity in the metropolis.

According to a frustrated mayor, Musah Superior, the exercise had received backlash and lacked public support. In addition to that, he blamed the assembly members’ failure to support the initiatives, hence its suspension forthwith.

However Diamond News interaction with some of the assembly members exposed otherwise. They said they were unhappy with MCE’s decision since they had given their fullest support, except that; Musah Superior unilaterally took decisions and actions without involving them effectively. This things they stated, accounted for the setbacks.

The assembly members also attributed their inability to constitute the Behsung Taskforce within their localities to the lack of funds and other logistics. The assembly members want the MAYOR to reverse his decision.

In a related development, Northern Regional Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party NPP, Alhaji Rashid C.O.P is blaming the MAYOR’s failure to engage the party’s leadership before rolling out such initiative, as a major reason that has resulted in the failures.

He said the Regional executives of the NPP rather expected the Tamale Metro Chief executive to undertake developmental projects that would benefits people thereby projecting the party, but not to be chasing people out in the metropolis.

The Regional NPP organizer speaking on Diamond fM Power Drive indicated that majority of Party members were not in support with current happenings in the metropolis, since Musah Superior had failed to listen to good counsel from within the party’s hierarchy.
