Stay off Tamale central constituency – NDC communicators warn Former deputy trade’s minister

Some serial callers of the main opposition, National Democratic Congress NDC in the Northern Region have expressed shock at the stands of former Member of Parliament for Nanton constituency, Ibrahim Mohamed Mutala, to run for parliamentary primaries in the Tamale Central constituency ahead of the 2020 elections.

Communicators of the NDC described the decision of the former Nanton MP as a bad step which ought not to be encouraged by the party’s leadership.

Reports are rife within the NDC circles that Ibrahim Mutala, former deputy minister who lost the Nanton seat to Hardi Tufero of the NPP, after just a term in parliament is expressing interest and desires to contest for primaries, not at Nanton, but rather in the Tamale Central constituency.

The current MP and former Roads Minister, Alhaji Inusah Fusieni has spoken publicly on his decisions not to contest the seat for the fourth time, but give way to other newer faces.

Several names within the NDC rank have since popped up and they include former chief Executive for Tamale Metropolitan Assembly, Abdul Hanan Gundadow, former governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Nashiru and Ibrahim engineer, among others who are lacing their boots to retain the Tamale central seat in 2020.

Speaking on the development on Diamond fM’s power Drive, some of the communicators of the NDC who were unhappy, rather urged the former deputy minister of Trade, Ibrahim Mohamed Mutala to concentrate his efforts on recapturing the Nanton parliamentary seat, instead of venturing into the Tamale central constituency.

But the former Nanton MP, Mohamed Mutala in a defense, said though he was yet to taken a firm decision on where to contest primaries, the suggestion had come from several personalities within the NDC who persuaded him to go for the Tamale central primaries when the party opens nominations.
