State of the art mosque for Tamale Senior High commissioned ahead of the school’s 70th anniversary

A new mosque for the Tamale Senior High School has been commissioned and handed over to the Muslim community in and around the school.

The Mosque project was financed by a banker, Farhan Alhassan, as his contribution to help boost the spiritual and moral development of users, and it was commissioned on Friday, December 10, just a day before a grand durbar to climax TAMASCO’s 70th anniversary celebration which the President of the republic, Nana Akuffo Addo is expected to be a special guest of honor.

At a ceremony to commission the befitting mosque which has ancillary facilities including a library, offices for the patron, imam and state of the art allusions facilities among others, the benefactor and sponsor of the project, Farhan Alhassan remarked that: “This is my way of giving back, what was inculcated in me during my days at Tamasco.”

He paid glowing tribute to late former vice president and an old student of Tamasco, Alhaji Aliu Mahama and others who equally gave back to the school in one way or the other.

According to Farhan Alhassan, building of the mosque become his priority having considered the unhygienic surroundings at the Kintampo transit point, the KNUST mosque which was his former college and Tamasco and “Allah touched my heart to build a mosque for Tamasco because the other two at a point in time had mosques.”

He said he could not take the credit alone considering the huge support he enjoyed from others including his parents, classmates and friends whose generosity and encouragement saw to the realization of the dream.

Earlier in his welcoming address, the Headmaster of Tamale Senior High School, Reverend Edward Azeeka stated that God has been kind to the Tamasco community, having bequeathed them with a befitting mosque which coincides with the school’s 70th anniversary.

With the changing times there should be strong emphasis on morality and with the things that are happening including LGBTQ, which is being forced on us; we need to strengthen our religious foundation and to ensure that our children are not carried away by the strange wind, as our nation is faced with such morale challenge,” Reve Azeeka stated.

The Tamasco Headmaster hoped that the mosque will awaken the conscience of the students so that they would not be carried away by the strange wind of the times.

The commissioning attracted Muslim clerics and Tamasco authorities, Muslim students as well as some old students of Tamasco.
