The Tamale metropolitan Assembly has held a stakeholders’ conference ahead of the decision to reintroduce the vision dubbed; “Tamale Project” in the metropolis.
The engagement was to formerly announce to the stakeholders, plans by the Assembly’s leadership to resume the Tamale project and also share ideas on how to go about the project.
Mayor of Tamale, Iddrisu Musah Superior chair of the METSEC, who is also leading the project in his addressed, emphasized that the “Tamale Project”, isn’t about infrastructural development, but rather, one that seeks to find a social revolution that would set a role for development in the metropolis.
He said the crime rate in the metropolis is worrying; therefore the assembly had taken the decision to restore the lost moral fiber in the metropolis by flushing out criminal elements which include weed smokers, prostitutes among others that have invaded the metropolis.
It would be recalled that the Mayor of Tamale after taking charge at the Tamale metropolitan Assembly, introduce his vision dubbed; ‘Tamale project’ to restoring sanity within the metropolis, however the Musah Superior personally suspended the exercise shortly after following disagreement between himself and some of his NPP party executives in the metropolis who failed to give it backings.
Addressing a forum to reintroduce the Tamale project on Thursday, Iddrisu Musah Superior, called on chiefs and other stakeholders within the metropolis to support the project fully.
On their part, chiefs, Imams and other opinion leaders who were at the meeting, assured the city authorities of their support. They called for continuous engagement between the assembly and other stakeholders to addressing Tamale’s concerns.
Leader of the Shia Muslim community in the Northern region who doubles as Chief of Hausa Zongo in Tamale, Sheikh Dalhu Abdul Mumeen, wanted the city authorities to be neutral in carrying out such exercise.
