SSNIT @ 60: a legacy of service; walking closely with monthly contributors, pensioners and listed beneficiaries
The Social Security and National Insurance Trust, SSNIT in the coming months will launch a virtual branch or an electronic (E-interface) between contributors and an Artificial Intelligence (AI) software, thus providing services, relevant information and updates to contributors, irrespective of their geographical location and even outside working hours.
The virtual branch, which will complement other human activities undertaken at the various SSNIT branches and office, is primarily being developed to reduce travels or movement stress among contributors and employers’ organizations that deal with the Trust.
In Addition to advancing their operations through technology, SSNIT is encouraging more reliance on its other self-service portals by clients which ultimately reduces paper works, saves time and promote efficiency.

General Manager in-charge of Benefits at SNNIT, Frank Mobila, disclosed these in Tamale at a 2025 Media Connect, which is a conversation with SNNIT, bringing together some journalists and media managers from the five regions of the North.
The event which is under the theme “a Legacy of Service,” forms part of SSNIT’s 60th anniversary celebration, launched in July this year. An important part of the dialogue and sanitization, according to the Trust, is to rally media’s support in telling the story of having secured future for contributors and advancing social protection.
Operating currently under the National Pensions Act, 2008, Act 766, SSNIT manages the workers Tier One.

According to Mr. Mobila the trust is putting a robust system in place, the years ahead in order to protect the investment of contributors and pensioners alike. These include the Trust without fail, paying pensions of over 5.28 billion cedis monthly.
The General Manager, Benefits said SSNIT is a lifeline safety net with the government of Ghana as the underwriter.
“Being with such a Trust, powered by innovation, guided by integrity and inspired by trust, is to ensure that we walk with contributors’ even closer and to avoid a situation where a lot of retirees will suffer old age poverty.”
Mr. Mobilla thereby encouraged the 80 percent of the population within the informal sector and self-employed people to also prioritize their future and their dependents by joining the Trust, making regular contributions and update their records.
“We have over 2.09 million active contributors with SNNIT and over 257, thousand pensioners as at October this year. Our oldest pensioner is 115 years and over 3000 others are over 80 years. The highest paid pensioner takes 201,000 cedis every month. Our youngest pensioner is 32 years and this is as a result of the contributor suffering permanent disability. All of these categories I have mentioned, get their monthly pensions paid without fail. We also pay listed beneficiaries, – wife and children and other dependents timeously, “he emphasized.
Mr. Mobilla added that every contribution sustains a promise that no worker in Ghana will be left behind. He implored employers to pay their remittances on time to keep the trust going,
SSNIT’s acting Area Manager in Tamale, Seth K. Quartey in his welcoming address said the six decades of SSNIT’s operations has been dedicated to service, transformation and securing the future of workers in Ghana,
He acknowledged that, as gatekeepers of information and public trust, the media play a crucial role in telling the real stories of millions of contributors, pensioners and beneficiaries, hence the interaction, to reaffirm partnership, engage and share updates and ideas to making the Trust work better for all.
