Some six communities within the Sagnarigu Municipality to benefit from Water Project

Some six communities within the Sagnarigu Municipality are expected to benefit from the Tamale water supply project.

The beneficiary communities are, Sagnarigu, Gurugu, Kanvili, Jisonayili, Zagyuri and Bagabaga.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, Hajia Mariam Iddrisu who disclosed this to Diamond news said, the project when completed will ensure that all beneficiary communities have uninterrupted water supply for the next forty years.

The President, Nana Akuffo Addo on Tuesday July 28TH cut sod for the construction of the Tamale water supply project.

Upon completion, the project will provide potable water to over 792,000 inhabitants in Tamale and its catchments.

The Sagnarigu MCE reiterated that the project is the biggest water project in the five northern regions, and the second biggest, in terms of cost, in the history of the country.

She said, the first water project was under the former President Kuffuor’s administration similarly to this one under another NPP government led by President Akufo Addo.

The Tamale Water Supply Project seeks to expand the water supply capacity of the Tamale Metropolitan area, and also improve upon the flexibility of water supply, by building a new water supply system which will rely on the White Volta at Yapei, with a 29.7 million gallons per day capacity water treatment plant.

Hajia Mariam Iddrisu urged the people of the North and Ghana as a whole to retain President Nana Addo in office to enable him carry on with the many developmental projects initiated by the government.

She indicated that, the NPP government led by President Nana Akuffo Addo since assumption of office has implemented several historic projects and programs for the direct benefit of the northern people and that was enough to return the favors by voting for the NPP in December.

The President has since ended his three days tour in the Savannah region, where he paid a courtesy call on the overlord of the Gonja Traditional Area Yagbonwura Tutumba Boresa II.
