Soldier who is facing prosecution for allegedly raping 16 year old in Bimbilla, to reappear in Court on February 12

A military personnel who is facing prosecution for sexually molesting a 16 year old girl from Bimbilla, has been remanded into prison custody by a district court in Tamale.

The suspect, Hagan Paa Kwasi, attached with the sixth battalion at Kamina, is to reappear on February 12, 2019.

Paa kwesi Hagan stand accused of raping the teenager in November last year at Bimbilla while there to keep the peace in the troubled Nanumba area.

The suspect according to police investigators; was on duty to ensuring that the curfew in the Bimbilla area was adhered to, but he sneaked to a nearby community school where the victims and her peers where having night preps.

The army personnel dragged her to a nearby surrounding and forcibly had sex with his victim.

The 16 year old girl, who suffered abdominal pains reported the incident to her parents and was later sent to the Bimbilla Government hospital for medical attention.

The military personnel, Paa Kwesi Hagan was recalled by his superiors following the incident and investigators later took over the case.

His remand into prison custody on Tuesday, January 29, followed recommendations from the attorney general’s office which is expected to serve the suspect with a bail of indictment and summary evidence.

This would allow state prosecutor to move the case from District Court’s jurisdiction to High Court for a trial by a judge and jury.

The suspect represented by a lawyer, appeared in court in the company of with three others who were all in uniform, including a superior officer.
