School Feeding Caterers kick against 10 percent deduction from funds owed them for any NPP activities.

Caterers under the National School Feeding Programme in the Northern Region are appealing for government’s intervention to halt any plans by appointees of the government to take a percentage from monies paid them as caterers under the programme.

The caterers are kicking against a 10 percent of payment which they claim is a proposal from the mayor of Tamale who earlier on had a meeting with them.

The caterers said the issue got to the National organizer of the NPP, Sammy Awuku, during his recently tour of the Northern Region.

According to the school feeding caterers; it came to their notice that the National executives of the NPP are unaware of any funds being collected from the caterers to support party activities at any levels.

Diamond News is aware that the caterers are becoming agitated and apprehensive over the issue.  Already the caterers complained that funds for their services are released very late and thus affecting their operations.

They said they are compelled to go for loans or but ingredients on credit and repay later. These they said was having a toll on their finances and any attempt to ask them to pay 10 percent from the amount owed them by the National School Feeding Programme, would be unfair to them.

Some of the caterers that agreed to speak to Diamond News on the development later rescinded their decisions for fear of victimization.
