RTU records first away win of the GPL season

Real Tamale United (RTU) have recorded their first away win of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) season as they triumphed 0-1 against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park in Berekum on Sunday afternoon.

Midfielder David Sandan Abagna won the day for RTU with a last gasp goal on 90+2 minutes in a fiesly contested encounter when the game looked destined for a goalless draw.

David had drawn blank in the last two matches after an impressive 5goals in the opening three fixtures of the campaign in his first season with RTU.

His goal on Sunday therefore takes him to 6goals now in six matches which is quite impressive for a midfielder.

Coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko’s side had failed to win away from home on two occasions after loosing 3-2 to Legon Cities in Accra and a woeful 5-1 defeat to Aduana Stars last time out in Dormaa.

Therefore, a lot was expected on Sunday and the supporters duly got what they had hoped for.

Coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko’s exploits in securing over 20points for RTU during the Division One League last season will be something supporters will be hoping can be replicated in the GPL campaign this season.

With the victory, RTU will now return home for the visit of Medeama SC next Sunday.
