Rising tension in Bagliga community where the chief is protesting the Bamvim-lana’s interference.

The chief of Bagliga in Tamale rural, Naa Haruna Osman has expressed his disgust over the decision by the paramount chief of Bamvim traditional area, Naa Mahama Abdulai to enskin an additional chief for Bagliga Dakpemayili.

Bagliga Dakpemayili is a farming community under Bagliga.

According to the aggrieved chief although there is Bagliga Dakpema (TINDANAA) who is still performing his traditional duties, the Bamvim-lana had deviated from tradition by going ahead to enskin one of his sub chiefs as chief of Bagliga Dakpemayili.

This he added is creating tension in the area since news broke over the alleged enskinment of another Chief for Bagliga Dakpemayili.

Naa Haruna Osman in an interview with Diamond News stated that the action by the Bamvim lana has led to unnecessary tension in the area.

He opined that though he is not against the Bamvim lana, however, he will resist any attempt to take what rightful belongs him. The BAGLIGA chief in explaining his frustration said he has reported the matter to the Regional Security Council (REGSEG) and overlord of Dagbon to intervene and resolved the issue before it escalates.

I am surprised by the action of the Bamvim Lana, for enskinning a chief for BAGLIGA DAKPEMAYILI, knowing very well that, there is TINDANAA who is a chief in the community. Why does he want to cause confusion in the community?

“I know I am under him, but the community is my jurisdiction, and I enskin TINDANAA for BAGLIGA DAKPEMAYILI and not the Bamvim Lana. I am fighting for what belong to me, and I will not accept any intimidation from his palace and I will resist any attempt by him to take the authority from TINDANAA palace, because I only know the TINDANA who I enskin as chief for BAGLIGA DKPEMAYILI no the other person,” he warned.

“We have several TINDAABA within the Northern Region and all of them are performing as chiefs at their localities, why does he want to deny me my own?  Our forefathers came and meet things this way, likewise my grandfather why does he want to change the tradition,” Naa Haruna asked?

For his part, the Assemblyman for BAGLIGA Electoral area, Abubakari Umar who expressed his unhappiness about the situation cautioned the youth in the area to remain calm and not engage in any actions that will mar the peace in the area.

Meanwhile police patrol team has since been patrolling the community to ensure law and order.
