RFA ELECTIONS: NORTHERN REGION DELEGATES ENDORSE ALHAJ RHYZO

Alhaj Abu Hassan Mahamadu Rhyzo has secured a massive victory in the Regional Football Association (RFA) elections held on Firday 18th October, 2019. Alhaj Rhyzo got 41 out of the 64 delegates who voted while his rival Umar Farouk Abdul Karimu polled 22 votes with one spoilt ballot. There was no absentia. This represents a 64% victory for Alhaj Rhyzo.

With the victory, Alhaj Rhyzo will oversee football administration in the three Northern Regions (North East and Savanna inclusive) for the next four years.

Alhaj Rhyzos campaign was built on a fourteen point manifesto dubbed Transforming Northern Football through Visionary Leadership.

After the declaration was done by the electoral commission, RFA chairman elect, Alhaj Abu Hassan Mahamadu  Rhyzo thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and called for unity from both camps to run football in the Northern Region.

The victory comes on the heels of a torrid campaign period, where supporters of the two candidates for the highest position in football administration in the Northern Region were engaged in a verbal tug-of -war.

The Northern Region RFA has not had chairman ever since the investigative piece dubbed #Number12 was aired showing corruption in Ghana football in June, 2017. The then RFA chairman, Abdulai Alhassan was part of the people implicated by the video. This led to his resignation later on. His vice chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Kessie has been in acting capacity since.
