REGSEC in the Northern Region to deal ruthlessly with hoodlums who may threaten the peace in the area

The Northern Regional Security Council has warned that it would deal ruthlessly with hoodlums who threaten the peace in the region.

Chairman of the REGSEC and also the northern regional minister, Salifu Saeed stated that some disgruntled NDC supporters who are peeved at the outcome of the recently held elections have for the past two days been engaged in unlawful practices such as protests, burning of tyres, firing arms and harassment of opponents, which had the tendency to undermine the relative peace the region is enjoying.

Salifu Saeed addressed an emergency press conference following Thursday night’s disturbance which took place shortly after former president Mahama served notice of his rejection of the 2020 election results announced by the EC which retained Nana Akuffo Addo as President-elect.

Salifu Saeed further assured all in the region that the security was on top of the issue and urged all residents to go about their normal activities without fear.
