The Management of Puzuri Group of Companies of the Tamale Metropolis in the Northern Region, on Tuesday March 28, 2023, organized a health screening exercise for inhabitants of Chirizag a farming community of the Mion District and its surrounding communities.
The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives, with a team comprising of medical doctors, laboratory technicians, physician assistants, dentists and nurses drawn from the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) and the Sang Health Centre.
The screening exercise sought to provide safe and proper healthcare services to the aged and other vulnerable groups with much focus on women and children in these remote communities to improve on their health and bring joy to them.
During the exercise, those found needing immediate medical attention were referred to the Sang District Health Center for necessary care.
According to statistics given by Dr. Eveyln Osei Amoah, who led a team of medical professionals, the medical team attended to a total of 593 people during the exercise.
She stated, that the beneficiaries were diagnosed and treated for breast cancer, cervical cancer, blood pressure, blood glucose, eye, malnourished children, and other related diseases.
Dr. Evelyn added that free consultation by the medical officers and counselling were provided to the beneficiaries.
The Managing Director of the Puzuri Group of Company, Mr. Shaibu Luckman in a brief interaction with the media, said the exercise sought to bring quality health care to the door step of the community members of Chirizag to enable them have strength and energy for this year farming season.
“They are our partners hence we need to ensure they are healthy before the rain set in”, he added.
Mr. Luckman, while expressing his satisfaction with the work done by the medical team and the response of the beneficiaries, also catalogue some developmental projects by Puzuri including construction of boreholes, construction of culverts on Chirizan Salankpan road among others.
