Prez. Mahama Commissions State-of-the-Art Smart Classroom Block at Ghanasco
President John Mahama has commissioned a state-of-the-art, one-storey smart classroom block at Ghana Senior High School (Ghanasco) in Tamale, as part of Katon 360’s initiative to transform digital education across Ghana.
The Katon smart block is the second of its kind in Ghana, following a similar project at Opoku Ware School in Ashanti. It features a robust infrastructure, including air-conditioned classrooms, smart screens, laptops for students, charging units, and a support system to ensure uninterrupted activities. The facility is solar-powered, making it an environmentally friendly and sustainable solution.

“This is a major milestone in our quest to revolutionize education in Ghana,” said Lawrence Hornovo, Katon 360’s Head of Projects for West Africa. “Our smart classroom block is designed to provide a 21st-century teaching experience, equipping students with the skills to compete globally.”
“Katon 360 classroom is a robust and comprehensive platform for virtual learning experience and it’s a novel project that the government of Ghana has to leverage on by extending the experience to all schools, where an investment is made into the future of the country’s human capital development,” he added.

Mr. Hornovo said the initiative also includes training for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) under the Youth Employment Agency, providing them with skills to repair laptops and mobile phones, and run economic activities.

Students and teachers at Ghanasco expressed excitement and gratitude for the facility, which they believe will enhance their learning experience and open up new opportunities.
“Katon 360’s smart classroom block is a game-changer for our school,” said a Ghanasco student. “We can now access quality education, collaborate with other schools, and compete globally.”
