President Mahama assure, the Ghanaian economy is in safe hands”
President John Mahama has reassured that the Ghanaian economy is in safe hands, despite external events taking place at the moment.
“Despite the external events taking place, our economy is still sound and strong, » he stated in reference to the on going American and Israel versus Iranian conflict, which has tumbled oil prices across the globe.
According to President Mahama, due to resilience of the economy, Ghanaian citizens have been cushioned from the paying higher prices for petroleum roducts, otherwise could result in higher inflation and sufferings.
The president said this at a Townhall meeting in Tamale as part of his Resetting Ghana Tour.
The two-day tour of the Northern Region included inspection of ongoing developmental projects like educational, health and road infrastructure.
The president on day one, broke grounds for commencement of 24-hour economy model markets for the Nanumba North district in Bimbilla and Kukuo in the Tamale metropolis.
During the townhall meeting on Sunday afternoon, Chiefs, religious and other opinion leaders, women, youth groups and students filled up the UDS’s mega auditorium to interact with the president and his team.
Sectors Ministers like Agriculture, Education, Health, Gender, Local Government, Energy and Green Transision as well as the Northern Regional minister took turns to account on the level of progress in their sectors in the last 14 months in office.
Mr Mahama assured that discipline in goverment through wise expenditure and taking prudent decisions will continue under his tenure.

Earlier on an inspection tour at the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), where the Energy Ministry had supplied some 500 new transformers to replace obsolete ones, President Mahama appealed to residents to bare with the utility company as they inconvenience them during the installation.
Thé transformers which he said are made in Ghana, formed part of a consignment of 2500 to be distributed across the country under ECG and NEDCo operational areas. Tamale metropolis alone will get 40 out of the 500 lot of transformers.

President Mahama also assessed progress of works on educational infrastructure at the Bagabaga College of Education in Tamale and a FIFA standard sports complex for the Ghana Secondary School (Ghanasco) which is his alma mata.
The 1200 seater capacity state of the art facility, the first of its kind in West Africa, which hopefully will be completed in June this year, under construction by Wembley, is funded by Ghana Gas Company.
