A 25 year old driver’s mate is in the grips of the Police for allegedly defiling a two year old girl at Kumbungu.
The suspect, Danaah Sulemana is said to have committed the act on June 1, at a time the victim and her friends were playing at a nearby Sunniya Primary School in the Kumbungu district.
The Kumbungu District Police Station Officer, Justice Azumah who confirmed the arrest to Diamond News said the suspect had lured the victim into one of the classroom with Gh¢ 2 and defiled her.
He indicated that, some residents who caught the suspect in the act, arrested and handed him to the police.
According to the police officer, the case has since been transferred to the Lamashegu Divisional Police Command for further investigations and the suspect will be arraigned before court after investigations.
The victim’s father Yaw Acheampong Yahaya said his traumatized wife called to inform him about the incident. He wants speedy investigations and prosecution of the suspect as a deterrent for other child molesters.
The victim’s father also disclosed to journalists that as at June 2, his child had not received any medical care due to financial challenges.
Meanwhile, Savanna Signatures, a gender advocacy operating in Northern region has offered to pay the medical bills of the victim.
