Playing Chad on artificial grass will be tough- Black Stars Head Coach
Head coach of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team Otto Addo has talked about how tough it will be for the Black Stars to play on artificial grass in its latest 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification game.
Ghana take on Chad in N’Djamena on Thursday, September 4 at 13:00 GMT looking to strengthen its lead in Group I standings while bolstering its chances of progressing to next year’s World Cup that will take place in the US, Canada and Mexico.
Speaking ahead of the game, Otto Addo was critical of the playing surface at Chad’s Stade Olympique Marechal Idriss Deby Itno and believes that the nature of the astro turf will add on to the difficulty of playing against the home team. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“We know it’s going to be tough. To play away [from home] in Africa is always tough.”

“Now, also under these circumstances, this [game] will be different because the players aren’t used to playing on artificial grass” Otto Addo said.

Ghana lead Group I with 15 points from bagging five wins in six games while Chad have lost all six qualification games.
