People of Tolon get Community Centre

The Deputy Majority Chief Whip, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu and the Minister for Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, Hon Dan Botwe have jointly commissioned an Ultra-Modern Community Centre for the chiefs and people of Tolon Constituency to serve as a recreational centre.

The project an initiative of the MP was fully funded through his social intervention fund and supervised by the Tolon District Assembly. The facility has auxiliary facilities such as a conference hall, restaurant, dining hall, executive lodge, area council offices, stage and a large floor for other events.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Hon Habib Iddrisu who doubles as Member of Parliament for Tolon Constituency cataloged the several achievements his outfit had brought to the constituency since he assumed the role of MP in the constituency.

The MP in his speech stated that, the facility is aimed at providing a congenial environment for meetings and other social gatherings within the district. He said the construction of the facility is part of efforts to bring development to the people of the area. He added that the project is in fulfillment of a promise he made to the chiefs and people of Tolon Constituency.

“When I came to this constituency, I realized that there is no place where people of all ages can gather to enrich their bodies and minds, as well as foster feelings of community and civic pride, our chiefs always struggle whenever they intend holding a meeting to discusses issues affecting the constituency, therefore I took the decision to build this facility,” he said.

Mr. Iddrisu assured the people of his commitment towards facilitating other developmental projects to help change the face of the constituency. He appealed to the people to practice a good maintenance culture to ensure its longevity.

On his part, the Minister for Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, Dan Botwe who was a guest speaker at the inaugural ceremony, commended the Deputy Majority Chief Whip for coming up with such an initiative in less than two years he has been in office without the support from the central government.

He said “this is what NPP government stands for; we focus on development across the country without any discriminations.”

 Hon. Dan Botwe while highlighting the importance of the facility, also claimed that, the NPP government is the only government that cares about the rural people, adding that, despite the global challenges, the NPP led Nana Addo government is still doing its best to save the people across the country.

The Local Government Minister in his remarks, thus urged the people of Tolon Constituency to continue supporting the party and ensure the party increases its votes come 2024 to enable it retain power to continue its good works in the country.  

 The chief of Tolon Traditional Area, Naa Rtd. Major Suleman Abubakari, on behalf of the other chiefs within the Tolon District thanked the MP for coming to their aid with such a facility and assured him of proper maintenance of the facility to last long.

Meanwhile some residents of the Tolon Constituency in an interview with diamondfmonline.com after the inaugural ceremony also commended the MP for his kind gesture in continuing to strive to develop the area. They described him as an honest and hardworking MP who cares for his constituents.
