More than 300 students of the Sagnarigu Constituency in the Northern Region over the weekend participated in the screening dictation test ahead of the ATTA ISSAH Spelling Bee Competition.
The exercise formed part of the activities taken by the management of Atta Issah Educational fund to shortlist qualified students to participate in the upcoming competition.
Chairman of the Attah Issah Educational Fund committee, Alhaji Mumin Naiza, told diamondfmonline.com that the exercise started on Saturday March 15, and ended on Sunday March 16, 2023.
He said the ten years long project, first of its kind in the Sagnarigu Constituency, would cover Primary Six up to JHS Three students across the constituency.
“We divided the constituency into four zones to allow all the students, most especially the applicants, to experience the feel of being on the competition. We want to ensure that each of the zones is able to produce a winner, before we will bring them together for the final in the next few months”, he said.
“The package is not going to be just for the basic and senior high schools. It is going to run through their education up to the university level. That is the project this wonderful man is bringing to our constituency, ” he revealed.
Alhaji Naiza, thus urged students within the Sagnarigu constituency to take their studies seriously to enable them to benefit from the project.
Some of the students who participated in the screening test, thanked aspiring National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate Mr Atta Issah for the gesture.
It would be recalled that, the aspiring National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Sagnarigu constituency, Mr. Atta Issah, on March 5, 2023, launched a Spelling Bee competition for pupils within the Sagnarigu constituency.
The competition aimed at inculcating a reading habit among the school children of the Sagnarigu constituency. It is also intended to improve teaching and learning within the constituency.
