“Our Community Projects” reaches fifty communities’ milestone
A philanthropic initiative by Alhaj Yussif Fuseini dubbed “Our Community Projects” has reached a milestone of fifty communities since its inception in 2017.
Our Community Projects is an initiative by Alhaji Yussif Fuseini to help reach out to deprived communities and to also boost their morals in the Islamic religion. This initiative was coined from the lifeline, a second-hand clothing store in Townsville, Queensland, Australia where Alhaji Yussif pursued his postgraduate studies.
Our community Projects visited the Gbalahagu community as the first community on the 29th of August, 2017 and has since extended the visits to forty-nine more communities bringing the total number to fifty communities since its inception.
The initiative deals among other needs; the distribution of used clothing to these communities, provision of books of all kinds for kids in these communities and other humanitarian initiatives as and when the need arises.
The latest community to benefit from the distribution of used clothing is Dunyin which had their share last Saturday, 30th November, 2024. Children in the communities where distribution takes place also receive Islamic books to facilitate their studies of the religion.
As the administrator of Masjid Al Emaan at Dungu-Kukuo in Tamale, Alhaj Yussif has also facilitated the building of several masjids in other areas and the teaching of kids in Islamic Studies.
Speaking to Diamond News in lieu of the milestone of reaching fifty communities in terms of the support, Alhaji Yussif Fuseini thanked all those who have in diverse ways supported the initiative whilst also remaining confident for the future in terms of more support from the public to enable the continued touching of lives.
“Our community projects is an initiative that aims at distributing used clothing to rural folks. What we normally do is that we gather clothing from friends, family and co-workers, and textbooks so that we spot a community and visit the community to distribute these used clothing to the rural people just to make them happy and to put smiles on their faces.” He stated.
“We have visited over fifty communities and shared these clothing to thousands of people putting smiles on their faces.” Alhaj Yussif added.
“The expectation is that we will continue to support our rural communities through the distribution of used clothing. And we hope to reach out to more people in these communities and so we are urging the general public to support us in this endeavour. At our community projects, we always say that the happiness of the rural folks matters a lot to us.” Alhaj Yussif concluded.
Some of the communities that have so far benefitted include Gbanjong, Jarigu, Cheyohi, Adubiliyili, Jonshegu, Ticheli, Kunguri, Manguli-Kukuo, Nanton-Balshei and Nyujagyili among others.
