One Shot In Chereponi’s Reprisal Attacks

Information reaching Diamond News indicates that one person has been shot twice by unidentified persons at Nawieku, a Chokosi community in the Chereponi district of the North East region.

Confirming the incident to Diamond News the public relation officer of the Northern Regional police command DSP Yussif Tanko said police in cheriponi on 15th March 2019 received information at about 10:30pm, one Jababu Fuad 22 years old was short twice at the right arm and the right thigh and was rushed to the Chereponi government hospital for treatment.

He said a joint security patrols has since intensified to avert further reprisal attacks as there were nearly violence around Kwame Nansoni, Tambong and Naja both in the Cheriponi District

 An eyewitness, who spoke to Diamond News on condition of anonymity, narrated that last night the one who was shot was in the company of his friend outside his home and decided to go into the bush to attend to nature.

He indicated that when he got closer to the bush, some unknown gunmen appeared and shot him and fled afterwards.

Meanwhile, information reaching Diamond News indicated the situation has resulted in a fire exchange today between the Konkombas and Chokosis in Chereponi on Saturday.

Unconfirmed reports have it that about six(6) to seven(7) houses has been burnt and residents have started fleeing the district.

It will be recall that a fight erupted between the Chokosis and Konkombas over a piece of land in the Chereponi District last year.

The conflict resulted in the burning of over 150 houses, with death toll at about 15.
