NPP parliamentary challenger for Tamale South Constituency seat accuses Lawyer Haruna Iddrisu of having little to show for the years he has served the constituents

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Tamale South Constituency, Yakubu Yussif, has challenged the Member of Parliament for Tamale South constituency, Haruna Iddrisu to point out a single initiative he had undertaken to address the concerns of the constituents.

According to him the MP who doubles as minority leader in parliament, had failed the people of Tamale South having spent 16 years in parliament, holding several ministerial positions in the last NDC administration.

The aspirant said this in his address at the inauguration of the Tamale South NASARA WING campaign team. The ceremony brought together hundreds of ZONGO communities and party supporters in the constituency who are preparing themselves to capture the seat for the first time, come December 7.

Yakubu Yussif, said the NDC law maker’s inability to implement developmental and other social interventions in the constituency, had led to increasing poverty among the constituents, hence is appealing to the people of Tamale South to give him their mandate to transform the constituency.

“The constituency is developmentally challenged and there is poverty among the people. There is no single policy to address the concerns of the people. He should point to us a single policy he had brought to address the concerns of the people. You held several cabinet ministerial positions, but failed to utilize the position to lobby development projects for the people of Tamale South. How much more can he lobby now that his party is in opposition?” he quizzed.

He said the NPP led Nana AkuffoAddo administration has implemented series of developmental projects in the area therefore it is prudent for the people in the constituency to vote massively for him and his party come December 7.

The NPP PC,also disputed claims by the Minority leader that he has no contender in the upcoming general elections. He said he is ever ready to give him a hot chase and snatch the seat from him come the 7th of December.

“It is not true that he is running the constituency alone, and it is not true that he has no competitor, he should remember very well in 2016, because his previous results, he promised his party 70,000 votes but he couldn’t get that 70,000 for himself nor for his party. If in opposition we were able to stop him from increasing votes how much more in power?

Speaker after speaker at the ceremony, admonished party members to come out and campaign vigorously for Yakubu Yussif and NPP. They also appealed to them to enhance their door to door campaign to enable the NPP emerge victorious in the polls.
