NPP Parliamentary Candidate clears refuse dump at Choggu Nmanaayili

The chief and people of Choggu Nmanaayili community in the Tamale North Constituency of the Sagnarigu Municipality can now have a sigh of relief, after the Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Alhassan Dahamani cleared a huge refuse dump in the area.

The NPP parliamentary candidate took the initiative upon himself to evacuate the refuse in the area, after the people of Choggu Nmanaayili appealed to him to assist them in that regard.

They claimed that, the refuse dump was abandoned for over several years and is located at the centre of the community, which they described as threat to their health.

The people made the appeal when the NPP parliamentary candidate visit the community to ascertained the sanitation condition in the area.

Residents of the area complained to Diamondfmonline.com indicated that the unbearable foul smell emanating from the dump is a worry to them. They said it has led to the influx of insects, particularly houseflies to the area.

“We have been battling with this refuse for so long. Just look at your back that is our main grinding mail standing there just close to the huge refuse damp. You can imagine the dirt we have been taking in for the past years”, one resident lamented.

“This rubbish you have seen always goes to people’s home anytime there is a heavy win in this area”, another resident complained.

They added that with the menace of cholera hanging in the air, it would not be surprising if there should be an outbreak of the disease in the area.

However, they said the intervention of the NPP parliamentary candidate Alhassan Dahamani, has brought a sigh of relief to them, and have thus, thanked him for the gesture.

In an interaction with Diamondfmonline.com, the NPP parliamentary candidate maintained his readiness to make Tamale North a clean constituency in the Northern Region. He indicated his main priority is to develop Tamale North which includes improving the sanitation issues in the constituency.

“I am doing this because am concern about the health of the people in this community. I am not doing it because of politics. The people called on me to assist them to evacuate this refuse. This is a responsibility of our MP, and if he failed to do it which I think I have the resources to do, why not?  

“I am ready to develop Tamale North because I have the people of this constituency at heart. The people know my capabilities. Therefore, I am ready to work because the people of this constituency are now suffering”, he stated.

The ruling New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidate Alhassan Dahamani, further assured the people of Choggu Nmanayili that, he has put in place measures to complete the abandoned developmental projects he started when giving the nod come 2020.

He said his outfit is working closely with the Urban Roads department to commence work on some roads in the constituency.
