NPP Northern Regional Scribe threatened to cause my transfer, says Baba Nkabo

The chief inspector of Buildings at the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly (TaMA), Alhaji Baba Nkabo has alleged that the Northern Regional secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Alhassan Sibdow, ever threatened to cause his transfer should he attempt to demolish containers around the Regional Highways offices in Tamale.

According to him, management of the TaMA had instructed him to demolish some containers mounted close to the offices of the Ghana Highways Authority, however, the NPP Regional scribe who was not enthused about the action, threatened to cause his transfer should he carry out his mandatory duties.

“The NPP Regional scribe said if I demolished the containers, he will cause my transfer. The party I have suffered for – and because of this party I don’t have peace in Tamale, and this boy said he will cause my transfer,” he lamented

Alhaji Baba Nkabo made these claims on Diamond FM’s “Siasa Saha” (a Dagbani political talk show), while he was answering questions on the floods situation within the Tamale Metropolis.

Alhaji Nkabo blamed the haphazard siting of structures on the failure of the chiefs and political leaders in Tamale by not allowing the building inspector’s office to discharge its mandate.

He said the indiscriminate siting of structures within the Tamale Metropolis is the cause of the recent floods in the city.

The Chief Inspector of Buildings of TaMA warned that the flooding situation will only stop if the chiefs and politicians desist from interfering in the works of the assembly’s building inspectors.

“We should change our mindset towards the Building Inspectors officers and allow them to work,” he stated.
