The New Patriotic Party in the Tamale North constituency has claimed that their Member of Parliament, Alhassan Suhiyini who is on the ticket of the opposition NDC, lacked lobbying skills and therefore is unable to secure developmental projects for the constituency.
They alleged that, the MP’s arrogant nature even towards his own party leadership in Parliament usually deny him numerous opportunities to lobby for projects that would benefits his constituents.
Addressing a press conference at the NPP headquarters in Tamale, the Tamale North Constituency secretary Yakubu Abdallah Iddrisu said their MP is on record to have been the first MP to have been walked out of Parliament, owing to his disrespect to the leadership of the house.
According to the NPP in the Tamale North constituency, the NDC is propagating untruth against the NPP’s 2020 Parliamentary candidate who is on record to have initiated several developmental projects during his turner as an independent MP.
Yakubu Abdallah Iddrisu indicated that, the NDC and the incumbent MP feel threatened with the comeback of Alhassan Dahamani on the ticket of the NPP and therefore, using propaganda to discredit him.
The Tamale North constituency secretary also indicated that, an NPP government has always had the people of Ghana at the centre of all programmes and policies and very much committed to improving the living conditions of all the citizenry.

RE-HON. DAHAMANI’S BLATANT LIES IN RELATION TO FLOODS IN SOME
PARTS OF THE CONSTITUENCY. STATEMENT PRESENTED BY THE TAMALE
NORTH CONSTITUENCY SECRETARIAT OF THE NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY AT A
PRESS CONFERENCE HELD ON WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 23, 2019.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the press, we are highly delighted for your response to attend this press
conference. We warmly welcome you. This press conference is in reaction to an earlier one held
by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Monday 14th October, 2019.
First of all, we sincerely thank you for honoring our invitation even at a very short notice.
It would have been a very good news to the people of Tamale North to hear their Member of
Parliament and the NDC holding a press to hand over to them a number of completed projects.
We know they will say „Ma ka duu‟ but the slippery opposition MP might have forgotten he
once told the constituents that, even if he is elected to become an orphan Member of Parliament,
the regular common fund will do the Magic. However, governance and politics is about lobbying
which we know our Hon. MP, Hon Alhassan S. Suhiyini lacks. Why? Because his arrogance
nature to many people including his own party leadership in parliament will not give him that
opportunity to lobby for developmental projects for the good people of Tamale North.
Everybody gathered here can attest to the fact that, Hon Alhassan S.Suhiyini is the first ever
Member of Parliament to have been walked out of parliament since the inception of the 4th
republic.
We, in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) wouldn‟t have responded to the allegations and lies of the
opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) against our Hon Parliamentary Candidate and
incoming Member of Parliament for the constituency (Tamale North), Hon. Alhassan Dahamani
but Adolf Hitler said “ if you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be
believed” . We are very much focused in assisting the President of the Republic, His Excellency
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo in achieving his Free Senior High School Policy, Improve
National Health Insurance, Planting for Food and Jobs, One Village One Dam, One District One
Factory, One Million Dollar per Constituency, One District One Ware House, the Nation
Builders Corps, National Identification, Massive Public Sector Recruitment etc.
Ladies and Gentlemen, you would agree that, since 1992 to date, the Constituency has always
been occupied and dominated by the NDC but nothing much has been done to improve the lives
and infrastructure needs of the constituency. The people have rather been abandoned and
neglected. This is largely due to the fact that, the people have always kept their trust in the NDC
but the party continues to betray that trust. The only way they can pay them is to continue lying
to them. The best message they always have for them is that even if they file a „2X2‟ piece of
wood, it will still win. What an insult to the good people of our dear Constituency!
The NPP as a party has always had the people at the center of all our programmes and policies
and very much committed to making sure that every part of the country gets the needed
development and Tamale North is not an exception. In the eight-year term of president J A
Kufuor, several social policies were introduced to benefit every Ghanaian. Several infrastructural
projects are still visible in the Tamale North Constituency. A Two-story dormitory block for both
boys and girls at Tamale Islamic Science Senior High School, the road from Kamina junction to
Gbanyamni, some roads within Gumani, Sakasaka Quarters road leading to Kalpohin Estates,
Extension of electricity to Gbrimah, solving the annual water situation of the people of Wovogu,
Wovo Guma and other surrounding communities by providing them a very big dam and many
other projects.
Members of the media fraternity, Ladies and Gentlemen, as we speak, we have massive
infrastructural developments completed and on-going in all areas of the Constituency.
Construction of class rooms, dormitories, etc in all Senior High Schools in the constituency.
Three unit classroom block at Fuo and Gbrimah, a warehouse at Wovogu, Construction and
desilting of dams in Kulaa, Gbalahi, Gbanyamni, Taha-Kpawomo, Kpintaliga all under the one
village one Dam initiative.
In terms of road network, the following roads have been awarded and contractors are currently
at site; Gbalahi Gbrimah road, The road leading from Sakasaka quarters to Nyanshegu and
Afa Seidu house, roads within Ward- K, King David Junction leading to Kanvilli Tuunayili etc.
The following roads have also been awarded and contractors are yet to go to site. The road from
Fuo bridge to Gbalahi, Roads within Kalpohin township and the road leading from Gukpegu
Kanbon Naa’s palace to Kalpohin market.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the following projects have been completed and handed over; a Day Care
and Medical Center at Nyanshegu, a Zonal Council at Kanvilli, three classroom block at Gbalahi
and Kanvilli.
Setting the records straight.
The NDC and MP for Tamale North should by now be bowing their heads in shame and leave
the NPP and current PC, the Honourable Haliyahaliya alone.
The NDC after sabotaging the current PC of the NPP who was then an Independent Member of
Parliament cannot in any way match with him when it comes to development within the Tamale
North constituency.
We all do know that, Hon Dahamani is the first person ever to have broken the monopoly of the
NDC by snatching the seat from NDC as an independent MP. He is indeed, an enhancer of
democracy. During his tenure as Member of Parliament, the following projects were carried out
by Hon Alhassan Dahamani eventhough he was a complete orphan (an independent Member
Parliament without affiliating himself to any political party). Ladies and gentlemen, permit us to
now break down the unmatched legacies of Hon Dahama
In the educational sector, the Hon. Member did the following; Re- roofing of Choggu
Demonstration Primary School, Construction of six-unit classroom block at Choggu M-Manayili
Ulumidiniya Islamic Primary School, Construction of three- unit classroom block at Hassania in
Gumani, Construction of Classroom block at ST. Augustine in Nyanshegu, roofing of Kalpohin
Aglican School, a three-unit classroom block at Kalpohin Iteria Islamic School, re-roofing of
Kulaa primary school, support in a school project at Wovogu, donation of Computers to all
Senior High Schools and some Junior High Schools within the constituency.
In the energy sector Ladies and Gentlemen, Hon Alhassan Dahamani expanded electricity at the
following communities; Saatingli, Gbanyamni, Nyanshegu, Kalpohin Yapala, Fuo, Gbalahi,
Wovo Guma and Kulaa. Taha-Nanton Kpawomo also benefited from a community electrification
project through the efforts of the Hon. Alhassan Dahamani. The NDC in their press statement
said the current MP Hon. Alhassan S. Suhuyini lobbied for those projects and that, they have
documents to that effect. This we say is the biggest lie of the year. We dare the NDC and Hon
Alhassan S. Suhuyini to produce those documents. When at all will the NDC and Hon. Alhassan
S. Suhuyini stop the lies and dishonesty and take the people of Tamale North serious?
On water and Sanitation, Ladies and Gentlemen, the Hon. Alhassan Dahamani during his tenure
as MP, erected five stand pipes within the Choggu Hiltop area, expanded water in the following
communities; Saatingli, Gbanyamni, Kalpohin Yapala and cemetery area. Desilted Gbalahi,
Kulaa, Wovogu and Wovo Guma Dams. He also supported the people of Nanton Kpawomo to
pay off their water bills and Constructed a Public Toilet for the people of Choggu M-Manayili.
On road network Ladies and Gentlemen, Hon Alhassan Dahamani tarred the road leading from
T-Poly junction to Northern School of Business (Nobisco) while the road from Fuo bridge to
Gbalahi was re-graveled.
In the health sector, the Hon. Member fixed electricity at the HIPC Clinic at Choggu M-Manayili
and renovated the Taha Medical Center at Taha.
With regards to security Ladies and Gentlemen, the Hon. Alhassan Dahamani provided street
lights in all communities within the constituency.
These are facts that cannot be challenged. The beneficiaries have confessed these and thanked
the Hon Alhassan Dahamani for those projects during his tenure as Member of Parliament. These
confessions were made during a recent visit to some chiefs in the constituency. We challenge the
NDC and Hon. Alhassan S, Suhuyini to come out with list of projects that he has undertaken in
his almost three years as MP. We know he cannot because it is not about propaganda.
Barely one month as PC for Tamale North, the Hon Haliyahaliya has started his usual works of
service to the people. Currently as we speak Ladies and Gentlemen, works have started on the
clearing of refuse heaps in some parts of the constituency by the Hon. Haliyahaliya.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the NDC and the MP should remember „ting bi’ Zabili‟. Our party is very
much surprised to hear the NDC mentioning that, the Hon, Alhassan Dahamani has used his
share of common fund to purchase two tractors for himself and his brother. Maybe they were
going to talk about the two tractors and a combine harvester that was purchased by the Hon.
Alhassan Sorugudoo through the assembly funds. Our party is still pursuing the assembly and the
BNI to investigate the matter. We wish to state categorically clear that, Hon Alhassan Dahamani
has never bought any two tractors but rather one from his share of common fund when he was
the Member of Parliament and used that for the benefit of peasent farmers within the
Constituency. Indeed, the said tractor has since been returned to the Municipal Assembly
willingly by the Hon. Alhassan Dahamani. The Hon. Alhassan Dahamani knows God and will
not cheat on the people.
Ladies and Gentlemen it is a very big shame for Hon. Suhuyini to claim glory to projects that he
has no idea of. The Hon member claims to have lobbied for a KG infrastructure at Nyanshegu.
The question we ask the Hon. Member is where was he when the Hon. MCE was commissioning
the project? Knowing how boastful the Hon. MP is, he would have been the first person to be at
the commissioning for his usual fake to claim glory. With regards to the school building at Fuo
Zion School, the project is being funded by the one million dollar per constituency under the
Ministry for Special Development Initiative (MSDI). The NDC and the Hon Member of
Parliament can do better in their usual propaganda.
Ladies and gentlemen, there is the saying that, everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to
his own facts. Truth is hard, propaganda is cheap. We therefore, want to tell the NDC that
Tamale North is falling to the Hon. Alhassan Dahamani and the NPP in 2020 because the people
are feeling the good works of the Nana Addo – Bawumia government.
