The New Patriotic Party in the Zabzugu Constituency has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of scheming to create tension in the area following the 2020 disputed parliamentary elections in the constituency.
According to the Zabzugu NPP executives, the posturing of the NDC from the collation of the constituency results to the eventual declaration has been that of violence and that could potentially plunge the Constituency into chaos.
Addressing the media in Zabzugu, the NPP constituency secretary, Issah Hudu, said the NDC upon realizing an impending defeat resorted to violent tactics and boycotts of collation. He particularly fingered brother of the NDC MP, for threatening election officials undertaking the collation. Among these allegations he mentioned were the pelting of stones, warranting the eventual moving of the collation and declaration to Tamale.
Issah Hudu, contended that NPP won the seat convincingly with almost 3,000 votes and cast doubts over allegations of rigging by the NDC.
The Zabzugu NPP constituency secretary challenged the opposition to resort to the right channel in seeking redress rather than inciting violence.
