The Tamale Metropolitan Director of the National Service Scheme, Alhaji Adam A. Gafaru has reacted heavily to the Northern Regional Chairman of NPP Mohammed Bantima Samba, for his quick endorsement of the candidature of the incumbent General Secretary of NPP John Boadu.
According to him, the constituency executives in the Northern Region never endorsed the candidature of the incumbent General Secretary of NPP, as its being claimed by Chairman Samba. He added that, the action by Chairman Samba was unnecessary, “this is not right. What Chairman Samba did was uncalled for”, he said.
He said, “Chairman Samba is not saying the truth. Because, it is not true that the constituency executives declared their support for John Boadu. If he is talking about the regional executives declaring their intention to John Boadu, that is fine. Because, I am not at the regional setup. But if Chairman Samba said all the constituency executives are in support with John Boadu, then he is been economical with the truth. Since when did he Chairman Samba meet the constituency executives and they said they have declared their support to John Boadu’s candidature?”.
Alhaji Adam A. Gafaru who is also a member of the NPP Northern Regional Communication’s team, made these reactions on Diamond FM Siasa Saha a Dagbani Political Talk Show on Tuesday May 31, 2022, “saying it was John Boadu and his colleagues current national executives leadership that, the NPP lost over 40 parliamentary seats to NDC hence, it is not right for Chairman Samba to say such a person has done well and therefore must be re-elected.
The Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP Mohammed Baantima Samba has on Tuesday May 31, 2022, said the Northern Regional Executives of the party has endorsed the re-election bid of NPP General Secretary, John Boadu.
Chairman Samba, made these pronouncements at the launch of Mr John Boadu’s campaign in Accra on Tuesday May 31, 2022, and indicated all the Northern Regional Executives of the NPP will be wholesomely support his re-election.
“The whole Northern Region NPP is here. Our Founding Member, Alhaji Amadu Business, our Members of Parliament, and the Regional Chairman present here, representing all party supporters in the region… I am here, on behalf of all the constituency executives and the Members of Parliament, to declare the Northern Regions 100 percent support for the General Secretary John Boadu”, he said.
“So as for Northern Region, don’t come and campaign. We have given you 100 percent of the votes”, he added.
However, the Tamale Metropolitan NSS Boss who was not pleased with the pronouncement by Chairman Samba, said the series of declarations has put the party in a very awkward position, “and if care is not taking, we will end up of expelling several people from the party”.
Adam A. Gafaru, further explained that, “we are at the cross road. If we don’t take time with this our series of declarations, we will be shocked on our results at the end of the 2024 general elections”.
“This is not the best for our party. This is an internal election why will you be going round declaring support to aspirants? Chairman Samba need to conduct and adjust himself in such way that his executives will have confident on him else if he continue this way, it will affect his leadership in the region”, he added.
