Northern Regional Muslim Council of Ghana (NRMCG) urge Imams to preach peace during their Fridays’ sermons
The leadership of the Northern Regional Muslim Council of Ghana (NRMCG), has called on all Imams most especially those leading Fridays congregational prayers to focus their Friday’s sermons on promoting peace before, during, and after the upcoming general elections.
According to the Chairman of the Council Sheikh Issah Alhassan Abubakari, that it is prudent for Imams to play their part by using their sermons to educate Muslim Ummah the need to embrace peace to ensure incident free before, during and after the elections.
The Chairman of the Council Sheikh Issah Alhassan made the call during an interaction with some selected Imams in the region.
The leadership of the Northern Regional Muslim Council as part of activities towards establishing a membership of the council across the various districts in the region, on Saturday October 19, 2024, educated some selected Imams on the activities of the Council. The Imams were drawn from across the sixteen (16) Districts of the Northern Region.
Speaking to the media after highlighting the vision of the Council, Sheikh Issah Alhassan emphasized the need for Imams to admonish their followers the need to dip the peace in the country. “We expect all the Imams in every community and district, to preach the message of peace ahead of the elections”.
“Allah the Almighty told us in the Holy Qu’ran that if you have hands in causing the death of a single soul, your sin is equated to somebody who has taken the souls of the entire humanity, and if you are contributing towards ensuring a single soul is being preserved, then your rewards are equal to somebody who contributed to ensure that the souls of the entire humanity are being preserved”, he reminded.
He thus encouraged all Muslims in the region to desist from causing any fear and panic ahead of the elections.
“From now till we are done with the activities, it is Ghana that shall be the winner Insha Allah. No Muslim should have hands in causing any fear and panic. Your statement, your actions, should make sure that it is geared towards peace and reconciliations. It should deepen the peaceful coexistence that we are enjoying. So that at the end of the elections, when we look at our back and thank the almighty Allah for the peaceful elections”, he narrates.
Sheikh Issah in his remarks also revealed that the leadership of the Council had taken a step to extend the offices of Muslim Marriage Counselors to the various districts in the region.
