NHIS to register supporters for free on Tamale City’s home match days

The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) will register supporters onto the scheme for free during Tamale City’s home match days this season. This is part of the agreement the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) struck with the newly promoted Betpawa Ghana Premier League teams.

The Tamale Metropolitan Manager of the NHIS in the Northern Region, Mr. Abdul Ganiyu Ahmed made this known on Wednesday during Diamond FM’s flagship sports programme, Yelihuvi Saha. He disclosed that the NHIA has pledged GH₵ 200,000 sponsorship package to support all the four clubs involved in the deal for the whole season. The teams are Tamale City FC, Nsoatreman FC, FC Samartex 1996 and Kotoku Royals FC.

Mr. Abdul Ganiyu Ahmed also said the scheme aims to register 5,000 supporters which they plan to do on match days. He said supporters who pay for the match at the gates will be required to visit the NHIS team to be registered once they are with a valid ticket. Mr. Abdul Ganiyu said the NHIS will set up registration points at the stadium on Tamale City’s home match days throughout the season to achieve this target or even exceed it.

As part of the deal, all the four teams including Tamale City will have their management, technical team and players as well as their beneficiaries registered onto the scheme for free.

The Betpawa Ghana Premier League kicks off on the coming weekend with Tamale City travelling to Anyinase to play against Karela United. This means their first home match is next Sunday 18th September, 2022.
