NEDCo/VRA restored power back at Koblimahagu as Overlord of Dagbon Yaa Naa directs

The Management of Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) and Volta River Authority (VRA), has on Wednesday 30th March, 2022 restored power back to Koblimahagu community a suburb of the Tamale Metropolis.

This follows after the overlord of Dagbon Ndan Yaan Naa Abukari II directed the management of the company to as a matter of urgency, reconnect Koblimahagu back to the national grid.

The King gives the directives in his address during the commissioning of the Tamale interchange on Tuesday in Tamale.

Koblimahagu has been plunged into darkness for more than two weeks following a violent attack on some staff of NEDCo/VRA by some youth of the area. One of the field officers allegedly sustained severe machete wounds during the attack.

Business activities within Koblimahagu community especially those operating cold stores and other artisan workers are the hardest hit.

Several stakeholders including the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Alhassan Shani Sayibu, leadership of Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), among other stakeholders have all intervened in the matter and appealed to NEDCo to restore power in the area.

Meanwhile the overlord of Dagbon in his address while giving the directives, also condemned the act and called on the Northern Regional Police Command to speed up investigations for the arrest of the perpetrators who allegedly attacked and assaulted the workers of the power distribution company.
